Home Meter

Photograph a water, electricity or gas meter and it reads the number and keeps a record, month by month. For Android phones.

Getting ready…

Open this page on the phone and press the button. If you download it on a computer you will have to move the file across.

Once you have it

  1. Tap the downloaded file (Valuestools Home Meter.apk).
  2. If it asks about "apps from unknown sources", choose allow. — that is because it is not on the Play Store yet.
  3. Open it, press Add a place to make "Home · Water", then photograph the meter.

What people use it for

After the second reading it tells you in plain words: "You used 34m³ this time. That is 15m³ more than last month." It compares the same month last year, too.

What it does not do — written down plainly

It does not work out what you will be charged. Tariffs change often, and one wrong figure costs you real money. So it never guesses the bill — it only tells you how much you used compared with last month.

Also, a notification that pops up on its own is not in yet. Set a reading day and you will see a note at the top when you open the app. We write this down rather than claim something that does not work.

If it cannot read the number it does not say zero. It leaves the box empty and asks you to type it in. Typing works just as well — reading only saves you time.

Korean and English, both

It follows the language your phone is set to, and you can change it under ⋯ at the top right of the app. 한국어 페이지
